A Handmade Christmas

Frankenmuth is fondly known by some as "Christmas Town, USA." Here's one of the top reasons why.

For years, the Frankenmuth Farmers Market has hosted the largest Christmas market in Saginaw County, known as Frankenmuth Christkindlmarkt. This traditional Christmas market, modeled after those held in Germany's sister region, brings a touch of magic to the city each year. It's full of artisans selling handmade gifts and goods.

ChristKindl Update

We wanted to share an update regarding the Frankenmuth Christkindl Market. After careful consideration, the Frankenmuth Farmers Market Board has decided not to host a Christkindl Market in 2026.

The FFM Board recently met with several community organizations to begin exploring a more collaborative approach to the Christkindl Market. Based on feedback we have received from both vendors and shoppers over the past several years, we recognize an opportunity to strengthen the event, particularly by creating a more authentic Christkindl Market experience that reflects Frankenmuth and the traditions associated with this type of market.

Rather than rushing to host an event this year, we are using 2026 as a strategic planning year. This will give us time to work with community partners, explore what an authentic Christkindl Market should look and feel like, and thoughtfully consider the vendor mix, products, atmosphere, activities, and overall experience.

We want to be clear: Frankenmuth will have a Christkindl Market in the future. Taking this year off is about creating the time and space needed to build a stronger, more distinctive event; one that vendors are excited to participate in and visitors look forward to experiencing.

Our vendors have always been an important part of the Farmers Market and our special events, and your feedback will remain valuable as planning moves forward. We look forward to sharing more as the vision for the future Frankenmuth Christkindl Market takes shape.
