Frankenmuth Farmers Market to Host All New ChristKindlMarkt

The magic of the holidays begins at Frankenmuth ChristKindlMarkt, mid-Michigan's largest open air holiday market.

Frankenmuth Farmers Market, located at 534 N Main St, Frankenmuth, is switching things up for its winter market this year with many changes for the 2021 season. In an effort to create a more engaging and robust Christmas experience throughout the Frankenmuth community for visitors and residents alike, the Farmers Market is working alongside the Frankenmuth Convention and Visitors Bureau. Together, they are working to offer an expanded winter market modeled closely after the famous outdoor European Christmas Markets held every year in cities like Vienna, Brussels and Strasbourg. With an eye toward growing the Market to become one of the largest Christmastime attractions in the United States over the next 5 years, the Frankenmuth Farmers Market has made some considerable changes to its annual event.

The festival is being expanded this year to run for three weekends, kicking off Thanksgiving weekend and running through the second weekend in December. Market days will be Friday and Saturday from 11AM to 8PM and Sunday from 11AM to 4PM. The biggest change for the event is the location: Frankenmuth ChristKindlMarkt has moved to the North end of town to the Frankenmuth Farmers Market facility where FFM holds their traditional summer farmers and artisan markets. There will be dozens of vendors onsite in the outdoor marketplace, serving warm foods, handmade gifts, and holiday items.

The FFM grounds have been refreshed for Christmas with the entire facility dressed in Christmas lighting and sparkle. Just in time for the opening weekend, a large Christmas tree is being delivered and setup in the center grass of the FFM courtyard and decorated with warm white lights and giant bulbs in the FFM brand colors. A greens and tree lot is being setup at the front of the building where visitors can shop for all of the natural décor perfect for adding holiday flair and fresh scents to their homes for the season. The Market Gathering Barn – used year round as a space for family events – is being magically transformed into Frankenmuth’s new “Christmas Town Pub,” serving up warm Glühwein, cold beers, and piping hot cocoa. The smells of concessions featuring Market Made hot soups, fresh baked breads, and freshly grilled Willi’s Sausages will fill the air. Also onsite will be staged photo spaces for family pictures, Christmas music, and visits from a true Christmas celebrity – St. Nick! All this and more will round out the truly enchanting Christmas experience and make for the perfect date night getaway or family adventure.

Another new addition includes the Christmas Shuttle service in operation between all of the biggest points of interest in town for Christmas happenings. The shuttles will be operated in partnership between the Frankenmuth CVB and STARS of Saginaw using state of the art, brand new bus units, and will run to six points through town from the very Northern end of the city at Uptown North Main, to the ChristKindlMarkt and Midtown Shops, on to Downtown near the all new Frankenmuth Ice Rink and famous musical Christmas Tree, over to the South end near Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland and Grandpa Tiny’s Reindeer Experience. The shuttle is free for riders and will run from 11AM to 9PM, Fridays and Saturdays, and 11AM to 7PM on Sundays, with pickups happening at each stop location about every 20 minutes. This exciting new service offers greatly extended parking opportunities for our out of town guests at the north and south ends of the stops. Visit frankenmuth.org/christmas for the most up-to-date route and location information for the shuttles.
